OK guys, I want to talk about why people failto increase their vertical jump and why you don't have to. I want to lay down exactlyhow you can start increasing your vertical jump in the next 2 weeks or quicker. The firstthing you got to understand is that strength plus quickness equals explosion (strength+ quickness = explosion). When strength and quickness are applied during the same musclecontraction, explosion is the result. You have to maximize your muscle strength andyou have to maximize your muscle quickness and neurological response to create that explosion.Now: endurance versus explosion. Most of you are training like this: Training your jumpexplosion is counterintuitive. You go out
there and train for an hour, working veryhard. You are sweating, training hard, you feel the burn and you think you are trainingcorrectly. Most of you are not. So basically the improvement zone means this: If you can jump, if your maximum verticaljump is 32 inches, and most of your training is done jumping at a 12 inch intensity, whatare you really training yourself to doé You are training yourself to jump 12 inches overa long period of time. You are training your jumping endurance. Any time you pace yourself,anytime you try to incorporate less intensity to accommodate more repetition, you are trainingyour jumping endurance and not your explosion.
That is going to be really hard for you guysto change your paradigm on that. But never pace yourself. Always emulate explosion andalways push to the max. If you push to the max you are going to climb a little bit eachworkout and it is going to be noticeable over a period of time. You've got to work smarterand harder. Now, you also need to have a multifaceted approach. That is how you get results veryquickly. Let me give you an example: If you are a race car driver and you want to createa race car that goes faster, you can give it a more powerful engine. That is obviouslygoing to make it go faster. But how much more effective is it going to be if you put a morepowerful engine, make the gears right so its
more torque, put better wheels on so it gripsbetter on the roadé And then you put better cooling in the engine and you put better aerodynamicson the car. If you do all these things to your vehicle, put better gasoline in it (allthose types of things). You are attacking that problem from so many different facets.Each one is going to increase you vertical jump. Most programs out there target just1 facet. Some of them do that well, some of them don't. There are 9 variables to yourvertical jump training. Each is going to contribute to upward explosion andor momentum. An effectiveprogram that wants to get results quickly is going to target each facet. So trainingmultiple facets is going to create greater
and faster results. For instance: flexibility training your flexibility is going to give you more leverage on jumping power. Your form,fuel, your stability, you balance.
